For many years, the business model for women seaweed farmers in Zanzibar has been perceived to be either opaque or unclear as to how thousands of women farmers can access better markets or process their produce into globally acceptable products. To respond to this gap, Najali Africa developed a social enterprise model with 4 women groups of seaweed farmers at Jambiani to constantly give them access to seaweed market/agro science/climate change information and financing to take care of their plants throughout the cycle of growing to processing or selling to the ultimate exporter in international markets.Since 2020, this programme has reached 4000 women.
